Independent, Centralized Reads

At MMI, we understand the importance of unbiased and reproducible imaging outcomes and the critical role that the core lab plays in evaluating product safety and performance.

At MMI, we understand the importance of unbiased and reproducible imaging outcomes and the critical role that the core lab plays in evaluating product safety and performance. That’s why we have thorough reviewer vetting processes to ensure the financial independence of our reviewers from study sponsors, and procedures in place to minimize both internal and external sources of bias during the clinical trial. In addition, our rigorous reviewer and analyst training programs ensure that interpretation of images are consistent throughout the duration of a study and across all of MMI’s studies. No more worrying about differences in interpretation between site investigators and radiology groups! We will onboard, manage, and train all reviewers and analysts required for a study. All image analysis is conducted in compliance with a sponsor-approved Image Review Charter developed by MMI’s Technical Services team before work is initiated.

World-Class Clinical Imaging Experts

MMI’s clinician reviewers are board certified, practicing physicians with extensive experience in clinical trials. Our reviewers appreciate the subtleties between clinical versus clinical trial evaluations, and understand the requirement for consistency and attention to detail. MMI’s extensive pool of reviewer expertise includes:

  • Body Imaging
  • Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery
  • Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology
  • Echocardiography
  • Interventional Cardiology
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology
  • Neuroradiology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)
  • Vascular Surgery

Robust Reviewer Training and Certification Program

MMI ensures that all of our reviewers demonstrate acceptable understanding of the image assessment criteria and review methodologies before participating in a study. Live case discussions, blinded image reviews, and/or mock reads are conducted on pre-selected cases to verify effectiveness of training. To assure minimum variation across reviewers, group consensus on the interpretative criteria is established before any reads are conducted for a study. Where appropriate, we deploy validated reference atlases to provide guidance to our reviewers on difficult or borderline cases. Throughout the study, we also monitor reviewer performance and data trends as part of our quality assurance program.

Multi-Reviewer and Adjudication Models

We have supported numerous review models, including but not limited to single reviewer, two reviewers and an adjudicator, single review from a pool of reviewers (the “hot spare” model), auxiliary reviewers, analyst-certifier, time point blinding, treatment group blinding, and more. Our proprietary clinical trial platform, MMI EPIC™, and in-house software development team enable us to customize the study configuration to meet your needs.
